Great Hall at MainsWedding Photography at the Great Hall at Mains The location of the Great Hall at Mains, set on the Fylde Coast, dates back to the Norman Conquest in 1066 with some believing that some form of settlement has been on the site further back than this. Even on the approach it’s clear to see why the location is selected as a wedding venue and why wedding photography at the Great Hall at Mains always looks spectacular; the gravel driveway leads the eye past the central ornamental fountain to the stunning timber-framed building which has been designed and built to reproduce the Banquet Hall that sat on the same location some 500 years ago.
Wedding photography at the Great Hall at Mains will benefit from landscaped gardens complete with a feature water fountain, walnut trees, Tudor knot garden and topiary. Interior shots will see huge timber framed ceilings, a grand medieval stone fireplace, rich tapestries and huge ironwork chandeliers.
During the Medieval period, the manor of Singleton was split into two, leaving Great Singleton (what we know as Singleton village today) and Little Singleton, which is where the main manor house is located. Today, the Great Hall at Mains sits on land which was handed over to local lords following Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monastaries between 1536 and 1541. In 1536, the Earl of Derby took ownership of the property, followed by Alice Countess of Derby before being purchased in 1602 by William Hesketh. The Hesketh family are responsible for much of the restoration of the surrounding buildings, including the old Chapel and barns and their mark is clear in the brickwork along with the date 1686. It is believed that it was the Hesketh family who established the original Great Hall.
The Great Hall at Mains aims to provide the perfect setting for both wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions. Wedding receptions have been held at the Great Hall at Mains for more than 20 years, with couples opting for wedding photography at the Great Hall at Mains due to the picturesque premises. Following the reformation of the Marriage Act in 1995, Mains Hall was the first venue on the Fylde Coast to receive the Marriage Ceremony licence, and has been hosting both wedding ceremonies ever since.
Whether it is the wedding ceremony, wedding reception, Civil Partnership ceremony, Naming Ceremonies or Renewal of Marriage Vows, the Great Hall at Mains provides a number of services and options which support your special day. On the day, the Great Hall at Mains wedding photography will begin as soon as the first guests, Bride Groom and Ushers arrive. Following the wedding ceremony the new Husband and Wife will exit the Great Hall into the grounds where the wedding photographer will be ready. A number of locations can be used for wedding photos, such as the landscaped gardens and the Great Hall as a backdrop.
