Palm House, Liverpool

Wedding Photography at the Palm House in Liverpool

The Palm House in Liverpool is a unique wedding venue and attraction in its own right. There are many wedding venues that claim to be unique, but the Sefton Park Palm house is unique because it is made from glass! The house was originally built in 1896 as a gift to the City of Liverpool by Henry Yates Thomson. It was originally built as a horticultural glass house to exhibit exotic plants and fauna from around the world for the education and pleasure of the local people. However, due to the implicit high costs of maintaining the structure, it fell into disrepair during the late 1970's and was eventually closed to the public in the early 1980's. The building was thankfully saved from destruction in 1982 with the establishment of a charitable foundation now called the Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust and the rest is history.

We have many things to be thankful for from our predecessors and the saving of this stunning building for the people of Liverpool and tourists alike, is just one of them! The building itself though does stand out as a unique wedding venue in Liverpool for one obvious and simple reason - the light. As the house is primarily constructed of glass, the light is constantly changing, allowing all sorts of opportunities for fantastic wedding photography at the Palm House. To ensure that you get the most out of your wedding images at the Palm House, you will need a really experienced Palm House wedding photographer. Having a constantly evolving natural light poses as many challenges to a Liverpool wedding photographer as it does opportunities. The Palm House is also a living museum in horticultural terms, you have to be very aware of your actions and positioning so as not to damage any of the fauna when operating there.
